There has been so much raving reviews about this ultra low budget horror film that my anticipation for this film is builing up. Shot entirely using handheld camera, first-time director Oren Peli shot this film over a span of one week with a tight budget of $15,000 and a no-name cast. The movie is inspired by the director's own experiences with strange noises after moving into a new house.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY - After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban starter tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.
Originally an unknown straight to DVD release in 2007, this movie was picked up by Steven Spielberg who later insisted his copy of the DVD was haunted (Read here). Through numerous midnight small screenings in selected towns, the film garnered massive support from fans and ultimately found its way to international release. Numerous website gave this movie their two thumbs up and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 90% fresh rating.
Here's the movie trailer taken during one of the screening sessions, capturing all the audiences' reaction. Seriously either the movie's a gem or the marketing team is doing one hellavu fine job:
